“There's talk on the street,
it's there to remind you,
that it doesn't really matter
which side you're on.
You're walking away
and they're talking behind you
they will never forget you
‘til somebody new comes along.”
Through out life, the latest and greatest always finds its way of making the tried and true look dull and dreary. That is until the flash is over, the excitement is through, and suddenly something new has stepped into take its place.
It happens in school, business, and all the way through our lives---it’s understanding that stuff happens, and its natural course, that helps us get over the disappointment of not being the new kid on the block, office or street any longer.
When I was in high school I was not cool---not even close. But I did have some idea that even the coolest of kids would probably not be that way their entire lives—at least I had hoped. Except… there was one person in our high school class who had everyone’s respect; he was smart, gifted in his way of making everyone feel like he cared, and played no favorites. He went on to big things after school and as far as I was concerned, good for him.
When I got into the working world, I witnessed some of the biggest bullies show their true colors--- I am happy to say I got to watch them come crashing down. They found out you’re only as good as people around you feel you are, watching them fall was kind of fun. Sorry, I am human.
Being the new kid certainly has its advantages, and as our company has grown we have met new additions to the team on a fairly frequent basis. We have some really talented people on board, and we have some who have already shown their true colors.
The photo above was taken outside Lake Tahoe late last year. There is little doubt this guy was very good at performing some acrobatic feats—what he didn’t realize was, the next person who jumped after he was through made him look like a novice.
Thanks for stopping by.
