Dreams.

“Oh put me in coach, I'm ready to play today

Put me in coach, I'm ready to play today

Look at me, I can be centerfield.”

If you like sports, this “Snap. Shot.” is for you. If you don’t like sports, that’s okay, you’ll find it’s more than just sports.

We all are dreamers in some respect; we might dream of being a movie star, a mother or father, and yes, for some of us even professional athletes. Honestly, it feels good to dream, but we also have to be realistic and know there’s a really good chance it might not come true.

When I was younger, much younger, I had a dream. I wanted to be a goalie in the National Hockey League. There was only one problem, I couldn’t skate. Sure I could stand on the ice, but doing anything coordinated was out of the question. My parents did allow me to live my dream as they bought me real goalie leg pads, a chest protector, and a mask—for street hockey. I was pretty safe until the time I forgot to umm…wear a cup. You will have to just trust me, it was a really bad mistake.

What’s really amazing is when you see someone who you knew growing up achieve their dream. In my high school class we had a professional bowler, a software developer who made it big, and a bunch of others who were just happy with their life as it moved forward. Many own businesses, some were in the military, and others were just happy. How cool is that?

Although I did love sports growing up, the closest I got to the sport was obtaining autographs at professional games. Back then they actually had player “signing days” where you could go on the field and get signatures. My parents had season tickets to the hockey team and we would stand by the glass, with game program and a pen—-then we would beg for them to sign. It was amazing how many did. Where are those autographs today? In some landfill.

The photo above was taken at spring training a couple of years ago. I somehow talked my way into being in the “photo well” where the pros shoot—-I made darn sure I was going to live my dream on that hot spring day in Mesa, AZ.

Thanks for stopping by.
