It's just another day.

“He wakes up in the morning

Does his teeth bite to eat and he's rolling

Never changes a thing

The week ends the week begins.”

As we move through life, there are days when it feels out of control, and others when “mundane” seems more appropriate, I assume it’s just what the day brings.

It is truly hard to believe that life, as we know it, has been placed on hold for nearly 9 months. I remember thinking when I had heard about the impending “Coronavirus,” that it would be no big deal and we would be back to our “normal” lives by the end of March. Obviously I was wrong.

Since none of us were likely around during the last pandemic, I would never have imagined the impact it would have on my life, and all those around me. At times I have wondered how people who are confined have dealt with it. I have several friends who have not ventured far from their homes and when I tell them I have flown at least 4 times, driven across the country, and wait for it…gone to the movies, they think I am crazy. Perhaps I am.  In case you are concerned you might have missed a good movie, you didn’t. I am assuming they are holding out the good ones for 2021—at least I hope so.

Probably the thing I miss most is routine. Less than a year ago I would catch one of two trains heading into the city—in case I missed the earlier one—and walk more than a mile to work, get on the elevator, and head to my desk. (Coffee was not far behind.)  At the end of the day, I would do the same but reverse the course. I saw this as my opportunity to gather my thoughts of what was likely to take place or had taken place during the day. I will never take those days for granted again, they provided some of my very best thinking time. Except thinking in the shower…you cannot believe some of the business ideas I dreamed up while washing my hair. Never mind.

I have very high hopes for the future and life after these very weird times. I do see a time when we will be able to travel, interact with friends, and go to sporting events. Okay, sports may not be as important as other activities, but I really miss being on the sidelines photographing. Sue me.

The photo above was taken from the Prudential Plaza 11th floor; looking down, I noticed the patterns of people and their morning shadows. Sure, they’re humans, and they have a good idea where they’re headed…but when it comes down to it, everyday as we travel from one location to the next, we’re like ants marching.

Thanks for stopping by.
